Sabbath Rest

It's Morning, Jesus
I bring to you the tired brain cells
The slow heart beat
The little bit of back ache
The sense of tired that coffee cannot lift
I lay before you like a dog under the porch
on a rainy day
I pause and rest and take Sabbath
And think your name
think your glory
think your hallelujah
think the miracle of moisture
the power of dew
the necessity of rain and rest
Six days I have labored and today I rest
As a sign between you and me that I am your creation
As a sign of covenant with my neighbors that I belong to someone else
As a salute to the past victories
As a promise to keep for tomorrow's energies
Amen
