Heaven's Hook
From the balcony of prayer
You saw the cup would not pass
You knew the cowardice of an earthling,
You knew the cowardice of an earthling,
In order to appease a raging mob
Would strip your flesh like clothes.
And you were willing
To be hung upon heavens hook
That you might catch men.
"I, if I be lifted up, will draw all men unto myself."
From the balcony of prayer
You asked that the cup might pass
But when it was tipped
You said Yes
And poured your own blood
All over you.
And so it became true for all of us:
"Though your sins be as scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow."
Amen
